Submit your Expression of Interest in joining SWGC
There are a few things for you to consider before submitting your details. These are not meant to scare you off! They are merely to give you an idea of what you might be letting yourself in for!
TIME: There is a considerable time commitment in being in our choir. There is an expectation that you will attend a minimum of 50% of the rehearsals in each semester and at least 70% of the rehearsals for the year. We rehearse every week throughout the school year except for a three-week break in the middle. We also put on performances during the year, be it our own concerts, with other choirs or at other public events. These are often, but not exclusively, on weekends. We reasonably expect that members will be available for a good number of these performances.
We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9pm throughout the school year (except for three weeks in the middle of the year) at the Salvation Army Hall, cnr Elouera & Fawkner Streets, Braddon, ACT.
MONEY: Like most groups/clubs, there is some financial input required. All members pay an annual fee (either for the whole year or per quarter). New members pay a refundable deposit for music. Go to the fees page for further details.
CONTRIBUTION: As a community choir we depend on our members to contribute to the running of the choir where and when they can. In the "skills" section on the form feel free to include any particular areas of relevant expertise you may have (e.g. marketing, design, music teaching, sewing, web-design, admin, grant applications, fundraising, concert production, lighting, sound, playing of an instrument, legal etc.)
