"Songs for Sentebale"
Strange Weather Gospel Choir, along with the Turner Trebles and Lyneham High Voices, presents a program of songs—from African to classical—to raise funds for Sentebale, a charitable organisation that supports HIV/AIDS-affected children in Botswana and Lesotho. The concert will be held in the beautiful High Commission of the Republic of Botswana and will be followed by supper.
Strange Weather Gospel Choir is a non-auditioned Canberra community choir consisting of around 50 singers whose repertoire includes gospel and spiritual songs as well as African, Indigenous, folk and contemporary pieces. Although the choir sings gospel and spiritual songs, it is not a religious choir. Members are from all walks of life and are united by the love of singing together in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The ability to read music or prior singing experience is not required; you can learn these skills along the way.
We meet on Wednesdays from 7-9pm at the Salvation Army Hall, corner of Elouera and Fawkner Streets, Braddon.
The last rehearsal for 2018 will be on Wednesday 19 December.
In 2019, we will rehearse over two semesters. The dates are:
